Netcontrol deliveries first Netcon500 RTU to South Africa.

Netcontrol through its local partner RPS Switchgear has delivered its first Netcon500 system to South Africa. The Netcon500 RTU will be used to control a very large 110kV to 6.6kV substation. The substation is providing electrical energy to a copper and cobalt mine.

The Netcon500 RTU is acting as the top level substation gateway to a large number of Arcteq and VAMP relays using IEC 61850 communication, across a fibre network. Additional IO is handle via the RTU's IO cards. The Netcon500 is providing resilience through fully duplicated CPU and communication cards running in a mirrored format.

Station Scada is provided by the Netcon3000 scada software.

A Factory Acceptance Test was conducted in January, along with IEC 61850 RTU and Gateway training at the Netcontrol Campus.
