Application topology

The system uses Web-based technology, and its functionality can be spread over a number of separate computers. Essentially there are three separate functions:

  1. Acquire data
  2. Store data
  3. Present data

Data acquisition is via RS-232 connection to the master radio, although in many cases this connection may be remotely accessed using a serial-IP system and a virtual serial port. It is possible to acquire data from several serial ports simultaneously.

  • The storage function uses a Relational Database system (MySql) to keep track of network layout, acquired data, alarm conditions, etc.
  •  Data presentation is via a standard Microsoft Web browser (IE6 or newer).
