ABB completes Netcontrol acquisition, expanding grid automation offering for utilities

HELSINKI, FINLAND. May 5, 2026 – ABB has completed its acquisition of Netcontrol, bringing the North European grid automation specialist formally into ABB’s Distribution Solutions division.

The close strengthens ABB’s ability to support utilities worldwide facing a more complex distribution grid, as electrification accelerates, renewable generation becomes more decentralized and operators come under growing pressure to keep networks stable, flexible and resilient.

Netcontrol’s capabilities in grid automation, including SCADA, RTU and engineering services, are now part of ABB’s wider portfolio. The acquisition adds strength to ABB’s digital and operational offering at distribution level, helping utilities gain greater visibility and control across increasingly dynamic networks.
