MANCHESTER, UK. June 11, 2025 — Vattenfall Networks Ltd (VNL) has announced a strategic partnership with Netcontrol UK Ltd to implement a cutting-edge network automation system, reinforcing its commitment to delivering exceptional service to its growing Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) customer base across the UK.
As a key player in the UK’s energy infrastructure, VNL manages a substantial portfolio of IDNO sites and has adopted a wide range of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) equipment in recent years. To further enhance operational efficiency and customer service, VNL is launching programme to deploy remote control and monitoring systems across its IDNO sites.
Netcontrol brings nearly 35 years of expertise in power network automation, offering proven solutions that are helping Vattenfall Networks transform the way it manages its IDNO infrastructure. Through this partnership, VNL gains access to a robust suite of technologies that significantly enhance operational visibility, responsiveness, and efficiency.
At the heart of this collaboration is Netcontrol’s Netcon 3000 SCADA platform, which VNL hosts in its secure industrial cloud. This system enables continuous, real-time data collection from substations across the UK, providing VNL with a centralized view of its distributed assets. This visibility allows for faster fault detection, improved asset management, and more informed decision-making.
In addition, Netcontrol’s Netcon 500 and Netcon 200 RTUs provide flexible, site-specific solutions for both large and small installations. These devices ensure seamless integration with protection relays, energy meters, and switchgear, enabling remote control and automation of critical infrastructure.
“By integrating Netcontrol’s proven technology, we’re enhancing our ability to deliver reliable, responsive, and future-ready energy solutions to our customers.” Stewart Dawson, Managing Director, Vattenfall Networks Ltd.
This partnership not only strengthens VNL’s technical capabilities but also aligns with its broader mission to deliver sustainable, intelligent energy solutions across the UK.
